TLDEF Has Summer Legal Fellowship

Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund (TLDEF) will host a summer legal fellow. For more information, go to transgenderlegal.org.

Number of fellows sought: One.
Location: New York City.
Qualifications: Because of the focused and challenging nature of the work TLDEF does, we prefer to hire a law fellow who has some experience with transgender issues. A background in or familiarity with issues, legal and otherwise, that are important to transgender people will greatly strengthen an application. Commitment to public interest law also greatly strengthens an application.
Fellow’s Responsibilities/Projects: Our summer intern will assist attorneys with research and drafting in ongoing cases, prospective cases, and amicus curiae briefs, in all areas of transgender civil rights; research, draft, and/or edit publications on same issues for general public education.
Funding: This is a paid fellowship; nevertheless, the fellow is strongly encouraged to seek out and apply for grants and/or funding from other sources in order to supplement the fellowship stipend.
Application Procedure/Deadline: Students interested in applying for the Pauline Park Fellowship should apply immediately. The applicant pool closes on January 31. We strongly encourage you to apply early as the position may be filled before that date. Applicants should send a resume, cover letter, and recent writing sample by email only to Michael Silverman at msilverman@transgenderlegal.org. Please enter “Pauline Park Summer Fellowship Application” in the email subject line.
People who identify as transgender, lesbian, gay, or bisexual, as well as people of color and people with disabilities, are strongly encouraged to apply. TLDEF is an equal opportunity employer.
